Experience Barcelona from one fiesta to another one during this August

August 12th, 2019

We have to insist, the best way to get to know a city and all its culture, tradition and gastronomy is through the popular fiestas of its neighborhood.

Let’s start with Gràcia

The streets of the friendly neighborhood of Gràcia, in Barcelona, are already in their maximum peak. Not only because all the activities that we can enjoy during day and night, but also because of the most typical characteristic of this fiesta: the multi-coloured costumes with which the neighbours dress the streets. Every year, the streets of the neighborhood compete for being the most original one in decoration. Thanks to the perfection of years and the passion of the people who participate, the streets become pieces of work of art.

Continuing on Sants

If you are not going to be in Gràcia during these dates, don’t lose hope. Starting at 18th of August, the magic will continue in the neighborhood of Sants. Again, you are going to be able to enjoy the variety of the traditional activities celebrated during day and the music of the concerts during night. And, again, you will be able to see the work of art made by the neighbors in the streets.

And don’t miss to stop in the Gòtic

This 14th of August, the oldest fiestas of Barcelona are going to start, the fiestas of Sant Roc. And they are not only the oldest fiestas, the streets of this symbolic neighborhood in the center of Barcelona are very antiques too. Walking through the streets of the Gòtic, any day of the year, is going to fill you of history, imagine doing that during a popular fiesta.

Please, remember that these fiestas are very special thanks to the effort of all the local people who participate, so, try to help keeping this tradition by the respect and the living together.

This August the only thing that we are going to miss in Barcelona is the boredom 😉

This Friday, the narrow streets of the city center are going to be full of life with the co-patron of Barcelona, Santa Eulàlia. This is the second great fiesta of Barcelona and it will light up its streets in the middle of the winter.

If you are thinking about visiting Barcelona, again, it brings you a great opportunity during this weekend. With Santa Eulalia’s fiesta, from kids to the most elderly will find activities which are adapted to them and which are spread out in the city center.

Giants, cabezudos, colles de castellers, sardanes, correfoc… a little of everything to taste Catalan culture in its entirety.

All the information and the map of the activities are in the event web page. You can visit that clicking here.

Now, of course, although it is not emphasized in the web, we advise you to go to the fiesta with the best means of transport: the bicycle. The streets in the center of Barcelona are very beautiful and full of history, but, they are also very narrow. Forget the car or the motorbike for going to the activities, they will only cause you a headache, especially if you want to park close by.

As we always say, fiestas are the best way to get to know the popular culture of a city; so, you shouldn’t miss that!
